Bravo Pantone!

This probably won't excite anyone that isn't a graphic artist who also enjoys dabbling in painting too. I was wandering through the near by Hobby Lobby (which is a hobby of mine), and I was surprised to see this display...

So cool! Maybe I've missed this, and it's been around awhile, but I'm guessing it's new. I've been specing Pantone colors for over 20 years in my real job, and now I can use them in my time off as well! Whoever at Pantone that figured out that this would be a good idea deserves a raise!

Poppies for Linda

I started this piece, actually 3 pieces for a friend at work. She really likes one that is hanging in a show here at work, but she needs a vertical in a very specific and unusual size. Rather than order a specially made board, I decided to try 3 square boards that she can hang as a group, or hinge together. This is still a work in progress, and I work a little on it most evenings. I will post the finished piece soon - I hope.

I finished this piece on Sunday. Below are shots of it after it was done.

This is a detail from one of my recent paintings. I go through stages of wanting to paint, trying, getting frustrated, retreating and gradually getting up the nerve and courage to try again...

This is the full version of Daylilies and Hydrangeas. The finished piece is 16"x 20" a on canvas board. I was intrigued by the combination of the bright, orange and yellow lilies that grow like weeds on the side of the road down here, and the beautiful pom pom blues and purples of the hydrangea bushes. They are both in full bloom here now.
